Hi everyone,

I hope this newsletter finds you in a moment of calm—or at least, in a moment where you're willing to notice what calm might feel like.

Lately, I've been thinking about knots. Not just the ones in my shoelaces, but the ones we feel inside. The tightness in the chest when we open a banking app. The shallow breath before a conversation about fees. The stomach drop when an unexpected expense arrives. The worry that keeps us up at 3:00 AM, replaying a financial decision from years ago.

In our work at Pine Ridge Wealth, we've learned something important: money isn't just numbers on a screen. It's a container for our hopes, our fears, our childhood lessons, and our deepest desires for security and freedom. When our relationship with that container is tangled, it doesn't matter how full it is—it still causes pain.

The beautiful, and often surprising, news is that the path to untangling it begins not with a spreadsheet, but with a single, conscious breath. It begins with mindfulness. And crucially, it begins with listening to what your body is already telling you—before the anxious thoughts even arrive.

This Week's Quote:

"Financial anxiety doesn't start as a thought. It starts as a physical sensation. The body knows before you do. And by the time you notice you're anxious, the spiral is already underway. The practice of mindfulness is simply learning to notice that signature earlier—and from that noticing, to choose differently."

Upcoming Opportunities to Untangle Together:

We have three upcoming events designed to be different. They aren't about getting rich quick. They are about getting clear first. They are safe spaces to explore, ask questions, and connect with a community that values awareness over anxiety.

From the Blog: For the Leaders Among Us

This week on the Project Mindful Money blog, I wrote something specifically for the non-profit leaders, executive directors, and mission-driven professionals in our community—though honestly, its message applies to anyone who's ever lain awake at 3:00 AM wondering if things will work out.

It's called "The Non-Profit Leader's Conundrum: When Mission Drives You to Burnout."

In it, I explore a painful paradox that I've seen again and again: the people who care most deeply about their work are often the ones most at risk of being consumed by it. The uncertainty of funding, the weight of responsibility, the endless chase for resources—it doesn't just live in your budget spreadsheet. It lives in your body. And until we learn to notice it there, the spiral will keep repeating.

I also share what the research increasingly confirms: that mindfulness isn't abstract philosophy or optional self-care. It's practical physiology. It's a low-cost, high-impact intervention that protects against burnout. And it starts with something as simple as noticing what your body is telling you, right now, in this moment.

If that resonates—whether you lead a non-profit, a small business, or simply a life with financial uncertainty—I'd be honored if you'd read it.

As always, there is no pressure, no pitch. Just an open invitation to explore this journey with us, at your own pace. When you're ready to go deeper, we're here.

With gratitude,
